Scan. Split. Send.
Scan the receipt, drop one link in the group chat, and everyone taps what they had. No awkward math, no side-eye over the tip, and everyone squares up on the app they already use.

How it works
Scan the receipt
Tabby reads the items and prices. If it gets something wrong, you can fix it before anyone else sees it.
Everyone claims at once
Send one link. Everyone taps their own dishes at the same time, right at the table, and watches the bill fill in live. Anything shared gets split between whoever shared it.
Get paid back
Everyone sees a button for Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, or Apple Cash. They pay you directly, and Tabby never touches the money.
Try it yourself
Pick a person, then tap the dishes they ate. If two people shared a dish, tap it for both and the price splits between them. Tax and tip are added on top, based on what each person ordered, and you can change both below.
- Subtotal
- $80.00
- Tax
- $6.40
- Tip
- $16.00
- Total
- $102.40
You owe $30.72. Demo receipt with made-up numbers.
Dinner's the fun part. Let's keep it that way.
Splitting evenly feels easy until it isn't. Someone always ends up covering a little more than they had, and nobody wants to be the one who brings it up. Tabby makes fair the default, so dinner stays about the people at the table.
Tabby takes it from here
Fair, without the awkward conversation
Tax and tip follow the food, so nobody has to bring up who had the steak and who had the salad. Shared plates are split between the people who shared them.
Your friends don't need the app
Only the person who scans needs Tabby. Everyone else opens the link in their browser and taps their dishes. No download, no account, no password to forget.
Zelle's here too
Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, and Apple Cash, all on one settle-up screen. Your tÃa pays with Zelle, your roommate pays with Cash App, and nobody downloads anything new to pay you back.
Nothing to top up or cash out
Friends pay you directly through the apps they already use. There's no balance to top up and nothing to cash out.
Built for tonight's dinner, not next month's rent
Tabby's great for
Dinners, brunches, bar tabs, and birthday tables where someone ordered the seafood tower.
It's not for
Rent, utilities, bills that repeat, or the running tab from a two-week trip. A shared expense tracker handles those better, and I'd rather tell you now.
Questions, answered
What is Tabby?
Tabby is an iPhone app for splitting a restaurant or bar bill by item. The host scans the receipt and shares one link, everyone taps what they had, and Tabby adds each person's share of tax and tip. Friends pay the host back with Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, or Apple Cash.
How do you split a restaurant bill fairly?
Split by item instead of evenly. Each person pays for what they ordered, shared dishes are divided between the people who shared them, and tax and tip are added in proportion to each person's food. Tabby does all of this automatically from a photo of the receipt.
How does Tabby split tax and tip?
In proportion to what you ordered. If your food is 30% of the subtotal, you pay 30% of the tax and 30% of the tip. The host can change the tax and tip percentages before sharing.
Does everyone need to download the app?
No. Only the person who scans the receipt needs Tabby. Everyone else opens the link in their phone's browser and taps their dishes, with no download and no account.
Which payment apps does Tabby work with?
Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, and Apple Cash. Friends pay the host directly in the app they already use. Tabby never holds or moves the money.
What isn't Tabby for?
Rent, utilities, recurring bills, or tracking a running balance over a long trip. A shared expense tracker like Splitwise is better for those. Tabby is built for splitting one meal, right at the table.
